A Cute Cat Was Discovered On The Sidewalk With A Message Written To Her Collar

It was evident right away when Violet arrived at the Effingham County Animal Shelter in Illinois on Monday that the strаy cat had formerly been a pet. Violet’s rеscuеr, Michaela Muzzy, described the animal on Facebook: “She’s very, very lovely and likеs to be rubbed on the head.”

The cat had a pink collar around her neck with a message attached, but it wasn’t the only indication of her background.

Every square inch of the paper was covered with purple marker writing.

“Bye Violet,” it said (spelling fixed). I believe you choose that name. I wish I could hold onto you. Violet, good luck finding her owner. Please take excellent care of her, owner. She has a name, by the way. I’m grateful. Regards, Lacey.

The sincere letter tore apart hearts all across the refuge. A youngster was also missing the adorable cat, who was also missing her home. Animal control officer Vanessa Skavlem at the shelter told The Dodo, “When we peeled it off and read it, it really pulls at your emotions.” I can only imagine a youngster who loves this object but realizes they couldn’t keep it.

The shelter’s scan for a microchip came back negative. With no way to contact Violet’s former owners, they posted a photo of Violet and the note on social media.

There, the child’s plea for her beloved pet to find a good home continued to touch members of the local community — including Cindy Murray.

When Murray first read the post on Facebook, her eyes filled with tears: “You could tell it was written by a child,” Murray told The Dodo. “You could tell she loved this cat but she just wasn’t able to keep her anymore and she wants her to go to a good home.”

Murray had the day off work, so she thought she’d stop by the shelter to meet Violet.

“I screenshotted the post and sent it to my husband at work, and said, ‘I want to go get this cat. I love it — talk me out of it,’” Murray said. “And he said, ‘You know I can’t do that. If you want it, go get it.’”

Murray made the decision to take the tiny Siamese cat home that day because she could sense that she was uneasy in the shelter. Violet was able to unwind once she was back in a nurturing setting because, as Murray noted, “she’s been purring and she appears really pleased.”

Murray only hopes she could find the young child who cherished her cat so much and reassure her that everything would be alright: I considered making a little video to this girl and telling her, “Dear Lacey, I adорted your lovely Violet. She’s going to enjoy a fantastic life, filled with cuddles, treats, and all we can provide for her.
